COMMUNICATION SKILLS WORKSHOP

Thursday 24 September, 8.00am – 12.15pm

Workshop open to registrars and consultants only. Maximum of 24 participants.

Cost: $530 for workshop only | $260 add-on with a full registration

Location: The Tramsheds

Good communication is an essential skill in palliative medicine but many of us have never had any formal communication skills training. Research shows that communication skills can be learned, and better communication can have positive impacts on both patients and healthcare providers.

This half-day workshop provides a safe and interactive environment for participants to hone their communication skills via role play with professional actors, under the guidance of trained facilitators. The content includes key skills for Recognising and Responding to Emotion and Discussing Difficult News from the VitalTalk method and is based on the well-regarded AChPM Communication Skills Workshops. There will be separate small groups for registrars and consultants to participate.

If you have already registered for the conference and wish to add on the workshop, please contact Daniella.
